About the Position: Palliative Care Physician or GP Specialist

The position involves working with a team of professionals who are committed to providing comprehensive palliative care to patients in both inpatient and community settings. As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will perform assessments, procedures, and treatments associated with Palliative Care Medicine, focusing on the comfort and well-being of patients.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with an experienced team, providing a holistic, patient-centered approach to palliative care. You will help manage a variety of complex care situations and collaborate closely with specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

This is a fixed-term position working 12 hours per week, with an additional on-call roster for weekend support. The role offers flexibility, and you will have the opportunity to join the on-call roster for weekend coverage. The salary is aligned with the NSW Health Staff Specialists (State) Award, and the work schedule is designed to provide work-life balance while serving the needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care for palliative patients in a supportive multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Conduct assessments, procedures, and treatments related to Palliative Care Medicine.
  • Participate in the on-call roster, offering weekend and recall support.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in both inpatient and community care settings.
  • Engage in a collaborative approach, working with specialists to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Act as a resource for patients and families navigating end-of-life decisions, offering counseling and support.

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Unconditional registration with AHPRA.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (Palliative Care), or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A high standard of clinical practice, with a commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
